‘11th sour’ – new world sour ale 5.3%
For our second WA Beer week collab we decided to change up our lineup of breweries, we added the awesome Swan Valley brewery, Mash and kept our old mates at Barrow Boys. Dubbed the 11th Sour, like all good things in craft brewing the best pieces of brewing inspiration always come together at the last minute (as in 11 hours before the start of brew day!). Charlie from Mash loves making beautifully balanced beers with a good dose of hops (e.g Copy Cat IPA) so the beer takes some malt complexity from him. Ash from Barrow Boys & our own Brett Newman loved the idea of experimenting with sour styles of beer (Berliner Weiss, Flanders Sours) combined with the punchy hop aroma & flavour of new world hop varieties (El Dorado, Sorachi Ace, Galaxy). This beer delivers flavour in a number of ways, toasty caramel malt, fragrant aromas of fruit all combined with a refreshing tart dry finish….. all in all a great way to toast WA Beer Week 2016!
malt bill: Pilsner, Victory, Crystal, Amber hop bill: Perle (Bittering) Sorachi Ace (Aroma) Galaxy, Sorachi Ace, El Dorado (Dry Hop)
